Is there a way to disable the dinger for the Lamp Out alert organization? This thing drives me crazy with its ceaseless dinging. All the lights are working, just whenever I use either plow betoken or emergency flashers the Lamp Out light flashes and the dinger rings. Touching the brake pedal stops information technology until brake is released.

I'chiliad working on finding the source, but in the meantime the noise is ridiculous. I don't want to disable the system or the Lamp Out light, just the dinger.

    Thank you. 2003 2500HD

If yous know the lamps are working the first thing to check is the lamp board sockets on the rear of the truck. They are notorious for melting, but fortunately are not too expensive. If they have never been replaced I'd say it's nearly sure that's where the problem is.

I'd endeavor cleaning/re-seating the turn signal, parking, tail light bulbs. Sounds like you have a dirty contact or an element issue.

My 04.5 had that issue and was the headlight connector was bad, installed new connectors and took care of the issue.

Mine would ding when all were working, replaced taillight bulbs and information technology went away for awhile, and then returned. I establish that my lamp boards from Genos only the plugand socket were so tight I could not get them to seat. I ened up ownership led taillights with resistors.

Super mutual. Tail lite "circuit boards" are the most common cause. The lights seem to work fine but the tail light assembly causes a lamp out indication.

My '03 did that a few times until I replaced the rear bulbs with all glass bulbs. (no plastic base of operations) Seems the heat and vibration would work the contact wires into the plastic and bumps would make them lose contact and fix off the chinkle.

Thank you guys. The dinging was so bad tonight on my way home I was tempted to drive it into a tree and finish it for skilful! Non but initiated by the turn signals now, but touching the brake, a bump in the road, or a mire idea that information technology hadn't done it lately.

Both tail light boards were replaced with ones from Geno's, only I will replace the bulbs even though they all work.

What brand bulb are the best? What ones are all drinking glass without the plastic base?

I have e'er used dielectric grease. Is that a adept idea, or tin can that cause issues?

I would nonetheless like to disable the dinger equally I have no utilize for an aural alert. Tin can it be done electronically? Where is it located? Can information technology be disconnected or just filled with super mucilage?

Check or supersede the front marker/bespeak sockets. I chased the Lamp Out dinger for a month on my 03 before irresolute the front sockets to new OEM.
    Tuesdak and Blakers similar this.

My local independent machine parts store (Thirlby Automobile http://thirlbyautomotive.com/) had a box of bulk bulbs just loose in a box. I don't know the make, simply information technology seems whatsoever that y'all see in the lilliputian blister packs have a black or gray plastic base.
  11. Tuesdak

Sometimes you have to inspect the bulb contact wires that go into the socket to observe the problem. The contact will have a black arching marker on information technology. The ~7v and no current to check the bulbs for the lamp out system can't jump the gap, simply, 12-15v can and light the bulb. Cleaning, replacing, and re-seating bulbs is a short term fix to a damaged socket that but starts to arc the side by side bulb contact.

Whatever bad bulbs replaced recently? Offset with those sockets every bit the bulb may take been good.

The front plow signal sockets were the problem on my 2003 and you could see and experience a blackness spot on the bulb socket contact wire on the bulb itself. The giveaway was door lock/unlock wink from the remote would sometimes non light the driver side turn signal.

I run across the Sylvania bulbs take a glass base with no plastic. The Wagners that I've been using take the plastic base.

I checked Walmart and the Sylvanias at that place have a plastic base.

Wagners have a glass base with a plastic retainer.

Dielectric grease has never fabricated any connection better and can do merely the oposite.
My advice is to get the excursion working reliabley kickoff and then, if you must, slather that junk on.

This whole episode started when my top radiator hose developed a pinhole and sprayed antifreeze all over the front end of the engine. I can't believe that would have done anything though.

Today I pulled the front turn signal sockets out and checked them. Everything looks good. Those bulbs work fine and I could not get the dinger to alarm today while the truck was sitting with the key in the run position. So far no problem constitute.

  17. Tuesdak

Maybe it got a ground wet? I don't know where they ground exactly, but, y'all could try cleaning or fluctuant the basis wires to the turn signals, rear tail lamps, batteries etc. I am guessing the grounds nigh and above the batteries are for the headlights and front plow signals.

Headlights are included and are fog lamps included in the alert organization?

I don't recall a ding with the engine off, but, piece of cake enough to test - pull a bulb with the engine off, central on. Turn on a turn signal just to be sure it's "looking" if it doesn't ding.

  18. Blakers

Tonight I noticed a lot more dinging and "lamp out" flashes while driving with the headlights on than without. The dinging while using turn signals is the same whether the headlights are on or off, but no other dinging with the lights turned off (just the turn signals and emergency flashers).

I will await at the ground wires. Everything was sprayed heavily with Fluid Film terminal fall, then I doubt antifreeze spraying on the front of the engine, or in that area would effect anything, but there's always a possibility.

I will supplant all the tail light bulbs just to be sure (even though they work), and castor out the lath sockets with contact cleaner.

I know the fog lights are not included in the warning system, and they restriction lights don't appear to be either every bit I had i out concluding fall with no warning.

Lamp out alarm does work without engine running if key is in run position.

Haven't done it yet, but this looks like the ultimate answer. Dinged endlessly on my mode domicile from piece of work tonight for ane.v hours. Information technology'southward got to stop!

That's fine, merely never forget, you lot'll loose all your chimes with that.
Low Oil pressure, low Alternator, low Fuel, every Malfunction.
Yous tin run your Truck to death within a couple minutes or faster non watching your dash indicators.
Is it that worth it? Your decision.
